Unlike traditional E-Bike motors, the MGU already includes an integrated shifting system – a

proven, virtually maintenance-free Pinion gearbox which in this case is electronically

actuated. The Motor.Gearbox.Unit is the drive system for a new generation of E-Bikes: fully

integrated, clean and virtually maintenance-free. In ordinary E-Bike systems, the motor

wears out the chain and rear derailleur very fast due to the high forces that are transmitted

from the motor to the drivetrain. With the MGU, the motor and shifting system form a

single unit for optimal performance across the entire range of gears which drastically

reduces wear on the system. The service interval? An oil-change after 10.000km. That’s it.
